Axon Reflex Sweat Test

Frame grab from indirect sweat test video

The Sensitive Sweat Test (SST) calibrated camera is used to image progressive sweating (shown by starch iodine reaction) at stimulated sites. The captured video is then analyzed to determine quantity of sweat, sweat production rate for each sweat spot, and total sweat volume.

Video of the spread of the sweat reflex away from the ACh stimulation at one edge of the field of view is captured using a camera in close focus mode directed at a starch coated plastic strip overlying iodine-coated skin.

The density of active sweat regions, sweat rates and total sweat volume are used to assess the innervation of the test site.
