Professional Experience

What path has your career taken since your residency?  Include military service, private practice, academic career, teaching and research accomplishments.

 

I have pursued an academic career in epilepsy and clinical neurophysiology.  I am currently an Associate Professor of Neurology in Mayo Clinic.  I am active in Neurology education having recently served as an Associate Dean for Mayo School of CME.  More recently, I have named Director of Education for Mayo’s 5 schools in Arizona.  I am a recent inductee in the American Neurological Association and  a Fellow in the AAN.

 

Residency Recollections

We are interested in anecdotes and experiences from your residency years.  Include interactions among fellow residents and teaching staff. 

 

I loved the wonderful Neurology lectures at Hennepin Couny Hospital with David Anderson, Scott Bundlie, Fred Langendorf , Ronald Cranford and William David.  Those morning report lectures were invaluable.

 

Looking back, would you do it again?  What would you change?

 

I would only have changed the on- call burden.  It was a bit heavy.
